# Upload a recording

> Prepare a file note and, if you need one, a client letter.

Have your audio recording saved on your computer before you start.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose whether you need a letter">
    Find **New matter recording**. A file note is included. Tick **Also create client letter** if you need a letter too.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose your recording">
    Select **Upload recording**, then choose the audio file on your computer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Keep the page open until it’s submitted">
    Wait for **Recording submitted for processing**. You can then leave the page while Law Brief prepares your results.

    Choose an audio recording, such as an MP3 or WAV file. If the file is rejected, check the message shown and ask your firm administrator for help.

    Your account may only have permission to view results. Ask your firm administrator if you need to upload recordings.
